Street, Park & Trail Naming Application Form

Meaningful naming is an integral part of community place-making. Any person or organization may submit a request to name a street, park or trail within the City of Yellowknife.

All streets, parks and trails shall be named either after individuals who have made a significant contribution to the history or development of Yellowknife; or to reflect the culture of history of the City or surrounding neighborhood; or by theme.
Where street names in a neighbourhood or subdivision are based on a specific theme, the name of all new streets shall be consistent with the theme.
Names will be considered for their Uniqueness, Distinctiveness, and Contribution by an individual.
Names of streets, parks or trails should not be changed and will only be considered in exceptional circumstances.
